Who am I?

Hello everyone. I am Linda Madden, your host on this website, where I talk about one of my favorite note-taking apps- Notability. As a Chemist and Research Assistant, note-taking has been an important part of my life. During my graduation years, my friend and I used to prepare notes for all our classes and everyone else in the class used to borrow from us. But, since my handwriting was slow, I could never think of doing it all without him. Fortunately, before our final year, I got an iPad and started using Notability- yes, that changed my life. Today, it’s been six years and I’ve used it almost every day, and I rely on it a lot- both in my personal and professional lives.

My story

For a long time in my life, I’ve been a great student, but slow while taking notes. I remember how my school teachers used to complain about me focusing too much on perfecting my handwriting and missing out on notes. In my defence, my grandfather has great handwriting and he taught me how to write. However, that couldn’t go on for a long time, since, now, my mother wanted me to increase my handwriting speed, without worrying about how pretty my handwriting was.

While this helped me get slightly quicker at note-taking, it significantly disturbed my handwriting, and these struggles kept going on for over a decade, until I took the time to improve my handwriting and speed at the same time- part of the credit goes to Notability.

After I got this app, I started recording audio from lectures directly into the app and used to write notes by hand syncing with these audios. This challenged my writing speed, but also offered some relaxation ensuring I wasn’t missing out on any important information. This went on for nearly five months and my handwriting had improved a lot.

After spending these five months using Notability for all my classes, I accepted it as my go-to note-taker, which assists me in my career as a Research Assistant.

Why this website?

In the past six years, I almost became a Notability advocate and recommended this app to a little over 66 people. While many of them took the advice and enjoy using it today, a few of them faced this common challenge- having a Windows PC, which is of course a great deal, but lacks Notability support, and they still wanted to figure out a way to get it on their Windows system.

So, I sat down and did some research (yea, that’s 90% of my job) and found out a perfect method that allows Windows users to use this amazing note-taker on their PCs- and you guessed it right- I wanted to share it with everyone else, which is why I made this website.

But, does this work?

100%. I have personally gone through the process of installing Notability on one of my student’s laptops (the screenshots on the homepage are from there), and it works like a charm on his PC. The best part, he recently also got an iPad and now uses Notability in Sync on both the devices. So, yes, the process is as real as that. However, while installing and setting up, you may come across some questions, and I’d love to answer them.
